ADHD: Focusing on the Signal from the Noise

Integria | 18 May 2025

ADHD is often misunderstood as a simple deficit of attention, but it is far more complex. This Live Stream explores ADHD through a nuanced lens, examining its evolutionary roots, potential advantages, and the cultural, social, and biological factors that shape its diagnosis. We will delve into the challenges of overdiagnosis, the impact of labelling, and the importance of reframing ADHD as a neurobiological difference rather than a disease.

We will focus on natural, evidence-based strategies for managing ADHD. From herbs and nutrients to lifestyle modifications and psychological framing, this session will provide practical tools for supporting individuals with ADHD. We will explore how to harness the unique strengths of ADHD traits, such as creativity, hyperfocus, and adaptability, to thrive in a world that often misunderstands them.

Join us for a thought-provoking and empowering exploration of ADHD, where we separate the signal from the noise and uncover the potential within this often-misunderstood condition.

From this live stream:

  • Master the neurobiological framework of ADHD to deliver personalised support strategies that address its complex manifestations beyond simple attention deficits
  • Transform understanding of ADHD traits from "deficits" to "adaptations", by identifying and leveraging evolutionary advantages like hyperfocus and cognitive flexibility
  • Develop expertise in navigating diagnostic complexities to make informed decisions that consider cultural factors, environmental influences, and individual presentation patterns
  • Design and implement comprehensive management strategies that integrate evidence-based herbal medicines, nutrients, lifestyle modifications, and psychological strategies
  • Create empowering treatment plans that harness each client's unique ADHD traits as strengths, fostering environments where they can thrive personally and professionally.

Part 1: Childhood ADHD – Understanding the Early Years – Nathan Rose

ADHD in children is one of the most debated and misunderstood conditions of our time. In this session, we will explore the complexities of diagnosing ADHD in early life, including the surprising evidence that younger children in a school year are more likely to be diagnosed than their older peers. We will critically examine the role of environmental, cultural, and developmental factors in shaping ADHD diagnoses and behaviours.

This session will explore the evidence for dietary interventions, such as the impact of omega-3 fatty acids, elimination diets, and nutrient supplementation, as well as the pros and cons of conventional medications like stimulants. We will discuss how to balance the benefits of early intervention with the risks of overmedicalisation, and how to support children with ADHD in ways that honour their unique strengths and challenges.

This in-depth exploration of childhood ADHD aims to separate fact from fiction and provide practical, evidence-based strategies for parents, educators, and healthcare practitioners.

Part 2: Adult ADHD: Understanding the Hidden Complexity – Laurence Katsaras

ADHD doesn’t disappear with childhood—it evolves. In adults, ADHD often manifests in subtler but equally impactful ways, from struggles with time management and emotional regulation, to difficulties in relationships and the workplace. This session will explore the neurobiology of adult ADHD, the challenges of late diagnosis, and the unique ways ADHD presents in different genders, with a particular focus on the often-overlooked experiences of women.

We will critically examine the cultural and societal factors that shape ADHD diagnoses and experiences, including why women are more likely to be misdiagnosed or overlooked. We will also discuss evidence-based strategies for managing adult ADHD, from lifestyle modifications and mindfulness practices, to targeted nutrient support and psychological framing.

This session will empower practitioners with deeper insights into adult ADHD and provide actionable strategies for supporting individuals across the spectrum of ADHD presentations.
